IP · Sole Systems

Injection-moulded consistency at volume.

IP injection soles (injection phylon) for programmes where the thousandth pair must measure like the first: tight dimensional tolerance, dedicated tooling, repeatable output.

What it is

Injection moulding trades the long cure of compression for a closed, metered cycle: material is injected into the tool, expanded and cooled to a finished dimension with almost no operator variance. Once the process window is set, it holds, which is the whole point at volume.

Dedicated IP tooling is designed and cut in-house, so tolerance corrections are a tooling decision made on our floor, not a supplier negotiation.

Specification envelope

Where a row is marked held in production it is our own window, measured on the compounds we run. The rest describes the family. Values for your specific compound and construction come with the full spec sheet; request it below.

The standards buyers most often write into the specification for this family. In-house rigs run on site; items marked external are booked with an accredited laboratory. Full rig-to-standard mapping is on the quality page.

Hardness and density

We quote hardness for this construction per programme rather than publishing a window. The figure our own parameter review returned for it was not recorded against a durometer scale, and a hardness stated without saying whether it is Shore A or Shore C is not a specification; it is a number that will be read the wrong way in a purchase order. Send the shoe and the target and we will come back with a figure we can hold, scale included.

Tooling

Dedicated IP moulds, designed and cut in-house. The tooling investment is the highest entry cost of the six families and the cycle the shortest, which is why IP suits programmes measured in tens of thousands of pairs rather than thousands, and why a tolerance correction here is a decision made on our floor rather than a negotiation with a mould supplier.

Questions buyers ask about this

What is IP injection, and how does it differ from a compression-moulded EVA sole?

IP is injection phylon: EVA sole stock injected into a closed tool rather than compression moulded. Material is metered, injected, expanded and cooled to a finished dimension in one closed cycle, so operator variance is almost removed. Compression moulding is more forgiving on tooling cost; injection is more repeatable once the process window is set.

At what volume does IP injection make sense?

Tens of thousands of pairs rather than thousands. The tooling investment is the highest entry cost of our six families and the cycle the shortest, so the economics turn on volume. Below that, TPR carries a lighter tooling entry cost at comparable cycle speed.

Can an IP injection sole be used as a bare outsole?

It can, for pavement-going casual and school footwear, which is where most IP programmes sit. Where the sole meets genuinely abrasive ground, EVA sole stock is a poor wear surface on its own and a rubber outsole, or rubber over an EVA midsole, is the right specification.
